For sale is an exceptional Austin Healey 3000 BJ8 Mk3
This example has undergone a complete, body-off, ground-up restoration carried out with absolute attention to detail.
The body was fully stripped to bare metal and meticulously rebuilt, with every section of the chassis and bodywork finished to a high-gloss standard, including all hidden and hard-to-reach areas, exactly as per original factory construction standards.
The car is finished in the highly sought-after and timeless colour combination of Ice Blue and Old English White. The interior has been completely rebuilt from scratch in blue leather, featuring new woodwork, new foams, carpets, and all trim components. A matching mohair soft top and tonneau cover complete the elegant, period-correct specification.
All mechanical components have been fully rebuilt using new parts, including the engine, gearbox, overdrive, differential, and carburettors. During the engine rebuild, upgraded valve stem seals were installed to significantly reduce oil consumption. In addition, the original rear crankshaft rope sealknown for its tendency to leakhas been replaced with a modern lip-seal conversion, effectively eliminating oil leaks from this critical area.
The electrical system, instruments, and all ancillary components have also been fully restored to original specification.
For both aesthetic and functional improvement, additional air vents have been fitted to the front wings and bonnet. This modification is inspired by historic competition Healeys that participated in prestigious events such as the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the Monte Carlo Rally. Beyond their visual appeal, these vents significantly improve engine bay cooling and reduce heat transfer into the cabin during hot weather.
The car is fitted with 72-spoke wire wheels and wider Vredestein tyres, carefully selected to maintain a period-correct appearance while offering improved stability and high-speed performance.
Additional equipment includes:
A set of brand-new chrome wheel knock-offs (unused) for the next owner
A solid wooden steering wheel colour-matched to the dashboard
The original bonnet, available for repainting if desired
The vehicle retains matching numbers throughout.
A complete restoration dossier is included, consisting of more than 1,000 photographs documenting every stage of the rebuild process and demonstrating the exceptional standard of workmanship.
The car has recently been registered in the European Union and is fully road legal. It comes with a current technical inspection, valid insurance, a professional appraiser’s valuation report, and a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate confirming its authenticity and heritage.
Following the completion of the restoration, approximately 150 km (93 miles) of road testing and commissioning have been carried out to verify, fine-tune, and thoroughly evaluate all mechanical, electrical, and operational systems. This important final stage ensured that the engine, gearbox, overdrive, differential, braking system, cooling system, and all ancillary components perform exactly as intended.
The Austin Healey 3000 BJ8 Mk3 remains one of the most celebrated British sports cars of the 1960s, admired for its pure analogue driving experience, timeless design, and motorsport heritage. This example combines authenticity, concours-level restoration quality, and true usability, making it equally suitable for a serious collector, enthusiast driver, or long-term investment.
This is the fifth Austin Healey restored by us to the same proven specification, reflecting years of experience and a consistent restoration standard. Over the years, I have specialized in classic British sports cars and know these models inside out. Several Healeys in exactly this colour combination and specification have already been successfully delivered to customers throughout Europe.
