The first-generation Volkswagen Golf GTI was introduced in 1976 and is considered the pioneer of the hot hatch segment. The GTI began as an internal project by a small group of VW employees who wanted to create a sportier version of the Golf. Initially, the project was almost rejected, but it eventually received the green light. This particular example is from 1983 and is in highly original condition.
The classic red color is still the original paint, and the car is completely rust-free. Given that the paint is over 40 years old, there are some scratches and stone chips here and there, but overall, the paint is still very good. The original GTI wheels complete the look, and the sporty details set it apart from the more standard versions.
The interior is also very original and in excellent condition. The fabric upholstery with red pattern is completely original and tear-free. The extra gauges in the center console are fully functional. The only non-original elements are the radio and the speakers in the doors. The iconic golf ball gear knob adds the finishing touch.
Mechanically, the car is in excellent condition. It has just received a major service, including new oil, oil filter, spark plugs, spark plug wires, water pump, thermostat, and coolant. The 1.8 engine runs smoothly, and the gearbox shifts as it should. The car is very well documented with tons of invoices from the last 20 years.
In short, this is a beautiful and original iconic GTI, ready to be enjoyed

De eerste generatie Volkswagen Golf GTI werd geïntroduceerd in 1976 en wordt beschouwd als de pionier van de hot hatch-klasse. De GTI begon als een intern project van een kleine groep VW-medewerkers die een sportievere versie van de Golf wilden maken. Aanvankelijk werd het project bijna afgewezen, maar uiteindelijk kreeg het groen licht. Dit exemplaar is van 1983 en is in een zeer originele staat.
De typische rode kleur is nog steeds de originele lak en de auto is volledig roestvrij. Aangezien de lak al meer dan 40 jaar zijn er hier en daar wel wat krasjes of steenslag, maar algemeen is de lak nog zeer mooi. De originele GTI velgen maken het mooi af en de sportieve toetsen maken het verschil met de modalere versies.
Het interieur is ook zeer origineel en nog in zeer goede staan. De stoffen bekleding met rood motief is nog volledig origineel zonder scheuren. De extra tellers in de middenconsole werken prima. Het enige niet origineel is de radio en de boxen in de deuren. De typische golfbalpook maakt het geheel mooi af.
Mechanisch is de auto in prima staat. De auto heeft net een groot onderhoud gehad met nieuwe olie, oliefilter, bougies, bougiekabels, waterpomp, thermostaat en koelvloeistof. De 1.8 draait mooi en de versnellingsbak schakelt zoals het hoort. De auto is zeer goed gedocumenteerd met vele facturen van de laatste 20 jaar.
Kortom, dit is een zeer mooie én originele iconische GTI die klaarstaat om van te genieten
