1970 Lancia Fulvia Sport Zagato Rally-Inspired Sourced in Italy EU-Based
The Lancia Fulvia Sport Zagato is one of those rare cars where design, engineering, and motorsport pedigree come together in a way that still feels distinctive today. Built by Zagato for Lancia, the Sport was always the more unconventional and aerodynamically focused counterpart to the Fulvia Coupélighter, rarer, and unmistakably Zagato in its execution.
We sourced this car ourselves in Italy and imported it to Belgium, selecting it specifically for its honest condition and strong overall character. It is a car that immediately stood out to us as something we would enjoy using ourselves.
This is a late Series 1 (Tipo 818.362) example, featuring the desirable lightweight construction with aluminum bonnet (side-hinged), doors, and spare wheel compartmentdetails that define the early Zagato-bodied cars.
Rally-Inspired Configuration
Rather than being preserved as a static collector piece, this Fulvia has been prepared with clear intent: to be driven and enjoyed, in line with the model’s competition roots.
The upgrades have been carried out in a coherent, period-inspired manner and include:
Widened fenders accommodating a more aggressive wheel and tire setup Quick-release fasteners on bonnet and rear lid Bucket seats with harnesses
The result is a car that visually and functionally reflects the Fulvia’s rally heritage, while remaining usable on the road.
Condition & Driving Character
This example presents as a well-sorted driver, with a straight body and an honest overall appearance. It sits correctly on gold Fulvia wheels, fitted with modern Dunlop tires for improved usability.
It is not positioned as a concours showpiece, but rather as a driver-focused classicengaging, lightweight, and full of character in a way few cars of the period can match.
Why This Car
At Car Cave, we look beyond rarity alonewe focus on cars that justify their place both on the road and in a collection.
This Fulvia stands out because it combines several highly desirable characteristics:
Early Zagato construction, including lightweight aluminum panels A rally-inspired specification that enhances both presence and usability Careful sourcing in Italy, selected by us for its authenticity and condition An honest, non-over-restored presentation, increasingly difficult to find
A driving experience defined by lightness, precision, and character, rather than outright power
It is a car that appeals not only on paper, but behind the wheeloffering a more nuanced and engaging alternative to more conventional classics.
A distinctive and carefully selected Fulvia Sport Zagatocombining rarity, character, and usability in a way few classics can.
