1967 Porsche 911

The Porsche 911 has its origins in initial sketches by Ferdinand "Butzi" Porsche in the year 1959. Designed and developed primarily as a more powerful, larger and more comfortable successor to the 356, the new 911 had big shoes to fill.
In September 1963, a concept model of the 911 was proudly exhibited at IAA Frankfurt (Internationale Automobil-Ausstellung).
Initially, the 911 was presented as a 901. During the show moment in Frankfurt itself, the engine was not fully ready but still the reactions were very positive. Just under a year later, in 1964, production for the 901 itself was already started.

The very first models were not sold immediately and Porsche itself used them for testing or as show models. One example went to the Paris Motor Show. There, Porsche encountered an unexpected problem during the show.
Porsche's management team received a letter of objection from French car manufacturer Peugeot in early October 1964. It stated that the 901 type designation infringed French copyright and trademark protection and that they always used a 0 in the middle of their 3-digit model code for their models. In Oct 1964, Porsche decided that the 0 should be changed to a 1. The 911 was born. Only 82 Porsche 901s were built.

How proud we are, proud because we can offer you another fantastic car.
This early Porsche 911 is a specimen from the first series called 'Short Wheelbase' (SWB). The SWB 911s are, as we see it: the 'primal 911'. The design leans closest to the original 901 idea, thus very close to the basic concept of the 356 successor. The '911 pure sang'.

This is an original US-delivered 911 delivered to its first owner in 1967.
The car was restored nuts & bolts and was completely finished according to the colour combinations listed on the Certificate of Authenticity. In addition, the car still possesses matching numbers engine and the original 5-speed gearbox.
At Interclassics Brussels 2022, this 911 was exhibited on Porsche Classic's stand.
